The South Fork Cubs have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the California School for the Deaf Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, South Fork faced Branson in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went South Fork's way against Branson as South Fork made off with a 66-44 victory. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Justin Freitas was a one-man wrecking crew for South Fork as he rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Freitas was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards. Another player making a difference was Broc Contreras, who gained 75 total yards and three touchdowns.
South Fork's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Boden Bero-Vanmeter was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, California School for the Deaf waltzed into Friday's contest with five straight wins but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 60-0 win over Tomales on the road. California School for the Deaf pushed the score to 54-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Tomales had no chance of recovering from.
California School for the Deaf found their leader in underclassman Aiden Shupe, who threw for 113 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Irving Senegal was in the mix as well, providing California School for the Deaf with three touchdowns.
South Fork pushed their record up to 4-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Elsie Allen and 4-6 Tomales (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.4% over those games). As for California School for the Deaf, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. South Fork commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like California School for the Deaf struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.9 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
