The Charlotte Catholic Cougars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 62-20 victory over Rocky River at home. The result was nothing new for Charlotte Catholic, who have now won four matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Charlotte Catholic had a senior duo take command as Blanca Thomas scored 19 points along with five rebounds and Gracynn Gough dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Charlotte Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Maggie Kernodle, who scored nine points.
Charlotte Catholic's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42.17 points. As for Rocky River, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Charlotte Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Victory Christian Center at 8:30 p.m. on December 16th. Victory Christian Center will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked third). Rocky River will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Butler at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
