The Monterey Dores will take on the Willow Glen Rams at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Monterey sitting on three straight victories and Willow Glen on ten.
Monterey is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Watsonville on Friday as they made off with a 17-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Dores, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ella Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anaiyah Brown, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Denae Lee was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Monterey lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Willow Glen narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Gilroy 4-3.
Alanna Clincy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Willow Glen's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Catalina Medina, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Monterey's record is now 8-1-1. As for Willow Glen, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monterey hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. However, it's not like Willow Glen struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Monterey came out on top in a nail-biter against Willow Glen when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Dores have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
