Tabiona and Wendover are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Tabiona Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Wendover Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tabiona is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
Tabiona suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Summit by a score of 64-62. Tabiona has struggled against North Summit recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Tabiona's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chance Lazenby, who scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Logan Rhoades who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lazenby has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rhoades, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of 13 wins, Wendover's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 79-71 to Rich. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (65), Wendover still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shawn Duboise, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Efren Delmuro was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Tabiona's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-2. As for Wendover, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Tabiona have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wendover struggles in that department as they've made 50.9% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Tabiona skirted past Wendover 56-54 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will Tabiona repeat their success, or does Wendover have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
