Brett Huffman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Delphi Community is undefeated when Huffman posts three or more RBI, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keygan Elliott, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Levi Coghill was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Clinton Prairie's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Lafayette Central Catholic by a score of 9-8.
Alex King made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Delphi Community's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Clinton Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delphi Community has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clinton Prairie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Delphi Community's way against Clinton Prairie when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Delphi Community made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Oracles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
