It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Hanks Knights can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Abilene on Thursday, falling 84-14. While losing is never fun, Hanks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 773rd, while Abilene is ranked 62nd).
Despite the loss, Hanks still got an impressive performance from Jude Blanco, who picked up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Abilene was led to victory by Brayden Henry and Ryland Bradford. Henry rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while Bradford gained 120 total yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Slack, who threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Hanks has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Abilene, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Hanks does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Abilene will face off against Ryan at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Ryan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
