Two dominant backs in Kb Henderson and Kari Bennett are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Daniel Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Blue Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Daniel is ranked eighth).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Blue Ridge had to settle for a 24-21 loss against Travelers Rest. Blue Ridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Blue Ridge got a solid performance out of Henderson, who rushed for 188 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Daniel put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Crescent for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-0 win at home. Fans of Daniel have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Daniel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolton Chapman, who rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown. Bennett was in the mix as well, providing Daniel with two touchdowns.
Blue Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Daniel, their win was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Blue Ridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Daniel struggles in that department as they've been even better at 236.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
