The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Monrovia Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-West Hendricks is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Tri-West Hendricks put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over North Montgomery. Given Tri-West Hendricks' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while North Montgomery is ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malachi Walden was his usual excellent self, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Walden is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another big playmaker for Tri-West Hendricks was Noah Lien, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Monrovia had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 20-3 victory over Speedway.
Monrovia relied on the efforts of Brayton Belcher, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns, and Dominic Kindle, who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Kindle really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Speedway to a paltry 175 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Monrovia's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Horrace Kollie and his three sacks.
Tri-West Hendricks' win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.6 points per game. As for Monrovia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Tri-West Hendricks and Monrovia have no problem gaining yardage. Tri-West Hendricks has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 358.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Monrovia struggles in that department as they've been even better at 431.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Tri-West Hendricks took their win against Monrovia when the teams last played back in October of 2017 by a conclusive 41-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri-West Hendricks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
