Softball Recap: Sultana Has No Trouble Against Apple Valley

Sultana won the last time they faced Apple Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sultans put the hurt on the Sun Devils with a sharp 15-5 win. Considering the Sultans have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Savannah Vanderpool spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Rodriguez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Isabel Avalos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Sultana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apple Valley only posted a batting average of .276.

Sultana pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Apple Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5-1.
