The Sultana Sultans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. The contest between Sultana and Burroughs wasn't particularly close, with Sultana falling 66-50. Sultana has struggled against Burroughs recently, as their matchup on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Sultana lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leland Price, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Price continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyon Peters, who scored 12 points along with five assists.
Sultana has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Burroughs, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sultana on the road again on Wednesday and play against Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Oak Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sultana in California (Oak Hills is ranked 255th, while Sultana is ranked 1054th). As for Burroughs, they will head out on the road to face off against Hesperia at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
