The Byng Pirates waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 35-28 win over Madill. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Byng has scored all year.
Defeat or not, Madill got some senior leadership from Ethan Wilkerson and Jd Runyan. Wilkerson dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Runyan. scored two points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 64.3% of Madill's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Madill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Byng is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Madill, their loss dropped their record down to 20-3.
Byng will head out on the road to face off against Latta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madill, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Dickson at 7:30 p.m.
