The Clarksville Generals will head out on the road to face off against the North Harrison Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Clarksville is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Clarksville pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 78-56 loss to Austin might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Clarksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Austin is ranked 110th).
Despite the loss, Clarksville saw an underclassman step up: Jayonna Shirley dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tiarra Lewis, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, North Harrison fought the good fight in their overtime game against Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Cougars 59-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Harrison in their matchups with Trinity Lutheran: they've now lost four in a row.
Clarksville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Harrison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Clarksville took a serious blow against North Harrison when the teams last played back in January of 2021, falling 63-24. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clarksville was down 37-4.
