Baseball Recap: Tellico Plains' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

There's no place like home for Tellico Plains, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Robbinsville Black Knights with a sharp 13-3 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cole Dodson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits.

At the plate, Tellico Plains let John Broad and Rylan Woods run wild. Broad went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Woods scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave Broad a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Edwards, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Tellico Plains always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Robbinsville only posted an OBP of .391.

Tellico Plains moved to 9-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Robbinsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Coming up, Tellico Plains is taking a road trip to challenge Sweetwater at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Robbinsville, they will be playing at home against Murphy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Black Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
