The Fellowship Christian Paladins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Union County Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fellowship Christian will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Fellowship Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Banks County, taking the game 21-10. Given Fellowship Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Banks County is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fellowship Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Granby led the charge by rushing for 11 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 181 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes. Cj Givers was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Union County didn't have too much trouble with Athens Academy at home on Friday as they won 35-21. That's two games straight that Union County has won by exactly 14 points.
Union County had a senior duo take command as Caiden Tanner threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.5% of his passes and Braylen Rader rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Rader was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Grasty, who picked up 62 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Union County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Athens Academy's QB won't forget Ethan Lester anytime soon given Lester sacked him four times.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-2.
Everything went Fellowship Christian's way against Union County when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as Fellowship Christian made off with a 35-14 win. Will Fellowship Christian repeat their success, or does Union County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
