Sabino has gone a perfect 10-0 against Tanque Verde recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Sabercats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
On Monday, Sabino came up short against Mica Mountain and fell 6-1.
Sabino saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Aguirre, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Tanque Verde waltzed into their match on Saturday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bears a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since February 28th.
Mikaela Jackson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sara Hoagland, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Tanque Verde hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Tanque Verde pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.6 runs over those games. As for Sabino, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sabino has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tanque Verde struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Sabino's way against Tanque Verde when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Sabino made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Sabercats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
