The Marshall Tigers are ranked highly in their home state, and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Brandon Valley Lynx. Marshall fell just short of the Lynx by a score of 44-41. Marshall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lynx apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Brandon Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Salter, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Deckert, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Marshall's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3. As for Brandon Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will face off against the Saints at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Minnesota (St. Peter is ranked 13th, while the Tigers are ranked 18th). As for Brandon Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cobblers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
