The Fletcher Senators will head out on the road to face off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Fletcher sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Bartram Trail. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Senators.

Nick Oliviera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Oliviera was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Fletcher: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Hobie Smith was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Ben Taylor was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Pirates get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Flashes, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
St. Joseph Academy also got a great performance from Neil Gornto as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Gornto has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Eli Robshaw and Dayton Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Robshaw scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Taylor scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Taylor has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carlos Willis, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
St. Joseph Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Matanzas only posted an OBP of .250.
Fletcher pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, their record now sits at 7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fletcher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fletcher beat St. Joseph Academy 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fletcher since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
