After flying high against the Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles on Saturday, the Colorado Springs School Kodiaks came back down to earth. Colorado Springs School had to suffer through a rough 64-27 loss at the hands of Banning Lewis Academy. While losing is never fun, Colorado Springs School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Banning Lewis Academy is ranked 61st).
Banning Lewis Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Bjegovich, who scored 17 points along with five assists. Bjegovich continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Davion Little, who scored 14 points.
Colorado Springs School's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Banning Lewis Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colorado Springs School will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thomas MacLaren School at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Banning Lewis Academy will be home for the holidays to greet James Irwin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully James Irwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday.
