Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista Grande). They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Gilbert Tigers on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Angel Rendon was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Thomas Ortega also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Vista Grande now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Gilbert, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista Grande will take on Arizona College Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
