The Boles Hornets will square off against the Pewitt Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boles has given up an average of 29.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Boles had to suffer through a 56-8 loss at the hands of Cooper. The matchup marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed six in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Elijah Granado, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pewitt entered their tilt with Cooper last Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 22-14.
The critical scores for Pewitt came from Zahkevion Betts, Datokta Zavala, and Kd Watson.
Pewitt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 251 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pewitt's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Betts, Brody Hodges, and Boone Hodges, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Pewitt's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Boles, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Boles has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pewitt struggles in that department as they've been averaging 319.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Boles was dealt a bruising 46-2 defeat at the hands of Pewitt in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Hornets were down 34-0.
