Baseball Recap: Johnsburg Extends Winning Streak to Four

Johnsburg waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in March.

Johnsburg got a great performance from Peyton Mesce as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Mesce has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Johnsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dom Vallone, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Johnsburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Marian Central Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-22 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnsburg will host Lake Forest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marian Central Catholic, they will welcome McHenry at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
