Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has not had much luck with Central Valley Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eliijah Donegan, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 51.1% of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Atticus Roque, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Deacon Judd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central Valley Academy, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 13 rebounds. Judd is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tom Jacquays, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Central Valley Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will take on Proctor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Proctor presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vernon-Verona-Sherrill in New York (Proctor is ranked 135th, while Vernon-Verona-Sherrill is ranked 585th). As for Central Valley Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Waterville at 7:00 p.m.
