Baseball Recap: Pike Has No Trouble Against Warren Central

While Pike didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Warren Central Warriors 10-3 on Tuesday. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Lincoln Sigmund spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacobi Jones was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Chrystan McNeal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory made it two in a row for Pike and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Warren Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7-1.

Pike will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
