Norland is 3-0 against Archbishop McCarthy since February of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Norland Vikings will be staying on the road to face off against the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
With a playoff game on the line, Norland rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 67-57. Given Norland's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Central is ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marcus Allen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston Wilson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-56 win over Somerset Academy.
Norland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their victory bumped their record up to 21-6.
