The Edwards County Lions will venture away from home to take on the Farina South Central Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Edwards County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Edwards County will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Hamilton County, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lions came out on top in a nail-biter against the Foxes on Thursday, sneaking past 5-3.
Allison Groff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Alice Robb was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Farina South Central came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Rams as they made off with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Bri Buchanan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie Peddicord, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Farina South Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.
Edwards County pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Farina South Central, their record is now 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edwards County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Farina South Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edwards County couldn't quite finish off Farina South Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
