Basketball Recap: Brunswick Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Brunswick unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a hard 61-44 fall against the Bradwell Institute Tigers. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 56-49 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brunswick's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Hicks, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. Those 13 boards gave Hicks a new career-high. Martin Davis was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Brunswick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Bradwell Institute got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parris Parham out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Parham has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Jordyn Rogers was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Brunswick's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Bradwell Institute, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Brunswick will face off against Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.2 points per game this season. As for Bradwell Institute, they will challenge Statesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Statesboro has won three straight at home, while Bradwell Institute won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
