The St. Patrick Fighting Irish will face off against the Bogue Chitto Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Patrick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
St. Patrick had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Pass Christian on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 12-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Irish considering their two-run performance the game before.

Gunner Eure was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for St. Patrick: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Messer, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Bogue Chitto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Cathedral, falling 13-3.
Bogue Chitto saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayce Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Walker Brady also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Bogue Chitto's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for St. Patrick, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Bogue Chitto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Patrick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. It's a different story for Bogue Chitto, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain St. Patrick's hitters?
St. Patrick got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 against Bogue Chitto by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Fighting Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
