Grace Kessinger was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hailey Salisbury, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallie Gibson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Frankton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood only managed one.
Meanwhile, Alexandria-Monroe's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Eastbrook a 6-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Brynlee Humphries, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Eastbrook off the board.
At the plate, Aly Smith was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Grace Wood was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Alexandria-Monroe's win bumped their record up to 22-0. As for Frankton, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Frankton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Alexandria-Monroe struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
