Given Fayetteville-Perry's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while East Clinton is ranked 731st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fayetteville-Perry found their leader in underclassman Christina Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Rummel, who scored 12 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Fayetteville-Perry is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for East Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayetteville-Perry will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Whiteoak at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. As for East Clinton, they will challenge Williamsburg at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Williamsburg will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
