The Pace Vikings managed to keep up with the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Pace was the victim of a rough 42-18 defeat at the hands of Edcouch-Elsa. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pace in their matchups with Edcouch-Elsa: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Pace had strong showings from Andie Lozano-lomeli, who scored two points along with seven blocks, and Andrea Salgado, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.
Pace bumped their record down to 7-22 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Edcouch-Elsa, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
Pace will head out on the road to square off against Harlingen South at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harlingen South's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Pace's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Edcouch-Elsa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Donna North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Donna North is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
