The Alexandria Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Ouachita Parish Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Alexandria's victory against Ruston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Alexandria had just enough and edged out Ruston 15-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Ella Melder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Amiyah Wilson and Sarah Grace Buckels did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Buckels scored three runs while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Wilson a new career-high. Jas'Breille Miller also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Alexandria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ruston only managed seven hits.
While Ouachita Parish didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Neville with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Aja Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Aaliyah Alfaro was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Ouachita Parish pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.3 runs. As for Alexandria, their record is now 11-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alexandria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Ouachita Parish struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexandria might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Ouachita Parish in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Alexandria avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
