The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will head out on the road to take on the Woodmore Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gibsonburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Gibsonburg was able to grind out a solid win over St. Mary Central Catholic, taking the game 54-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gibsonburg.
Gibsonburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Walby, who scored 14 points along with five assists. Zach Mcgough was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, Woodmore was not quite Calvert's equal in the second half on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 61-39 walloping at the hands of the Senecas. While losing is never fun, Woodmore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 740th, while Calvert is ranked 239th).
Gibsonburg's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Woodmore, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
Everything went Gibsonburg's way against Woodmore in their previous meeting back in January as Gibsonburg made off with a 69-49 win. With Gibsonburg ahead 40-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
