If the Southern Alamance Patriots were feeling good off their 34-10 takedown of the Enloe Eagles on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southern Alamance had to suffer through a rough 53-20 loss at the hands of Northwood. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Alamance has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Southern Alamance still got an impressive performance from Sunny Yarnell, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Kathryn Maness, who scored four points.
Northwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natalia Whitaker, who scored six points along with five assists and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Neah Henry was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Southern Alamance now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Northwood, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Southern Alamance won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on December 22, 2023. Apex Friendship presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern Alamance in North Carolina (Apex Friendship is ranked 141st, while Southern Alamance is ranked 373rd). Northwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southern Durham at 7:30 p.m. on December 22, 2023. Southern Durham is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
