Fontainebleau and Chalmette are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will square off against the Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Fontainebleau got the win against Salmen by a conclusive 21-6.
Fontainebleau got a massive performance out of Caroline Butscher, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Butscher also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Lagman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs.
Fontainebleau always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while Chalmette put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Riverdale. The Owls were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Rebels. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Emma Borden was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Shelby Vitrano was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Fontainebleau is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Chalmette, their record now sits at 12-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Fontainebleau hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Chalmette struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fontainebleau couldn't quite finish off Chalmette in their previous meeting back in March and fell 7-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
