Eastern had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 65-42 margin over DC International.
Meanwhile, Idea was the victim of a tough 76-55 defeat at the hands of Cardozo on Saturday.
Despite the defeat, Idea got a solid performance out of Nehemiah Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Johnson scored a full 27.3% of Idea's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sidy Koite was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
Eastern's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Idea, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Eastern came up short against Idea in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 56-48. Can Eastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
