Prairie View Academy dropped down to 5-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Riverfield Academy Raiders, falling 14-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Riverfield Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 27-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Riverfield Academy's part, Eli Corley made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Corley has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Eli Spicer looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Larson Brock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brad Nosser, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Prairie View Academy will take on Lamar Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Riverfield Academy, they will challenge Central Hinds Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
