Rocky Mountain is on a five-game streak of home wins, while the Lightning are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rocky Mountain Lobos will take on the Legacy Lightning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rocky Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Last Tuesday, Rocky Mountain didn't have too much trouble with the Impalas at home as they won 64-45. Given Rocky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Impalas are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rocky Mountain can attribute much of their success to Maddox Base, who scored 13 points along with five steals, and Daniel Mbadinga, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Sandstedt, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Legacy strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 71-52.
Joey Delescinskis was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nathan Spradling, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Rocky Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Legacy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Friday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Rocky Mountain have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've made 45.5% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Rocky Mountain came up short against the Lightning in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 58-50. Thankfully for Rocky Mountain, Bryce Spradling (who scored 24 points along with six assists and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
