Sanger has gone 7-1 against Krum recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Indians will welcome the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sanger sitting on three straight victories and Krum on five.
Sanger is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Van Alstyne to the tune of 73-23 on Friday. With the Indians ahead 35-3 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Reginald Jones had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 336 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 16.0 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Sebastian, who threw for 304 yards and three TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sanger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 376 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Sanger's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: JJ Mikas, Joshua Lindsey, and Dezmond Sampson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Van Alstyne's side was Mikas, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Krum took on Van Alstyne last Friday. The Bobcats snuck past the Panthers with a 23-19 win. The 23-point effort marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Krum's win came from a few key players Sanger will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Will Holland, who rushed for 112 yards and one score. Holland is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 103 every time he's taken the field this season. Lane Larson was another key player, picking up 114 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Sanger's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Krum, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sanger has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 307.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Krum struggles in that department as they've been averaging 268.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything went Sanger's way against Krum in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Sanger made off with a 40-14 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
