Chamberlain is 0-7 against Alonso since April of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Storm will host the Ravens at 10:00 a.m. Chamberlain has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Jefferson hit Chamberlain with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Storm came up short against the Dragons, falling 12-2. That's two games in a row now that the Storm have lost by exactly ten runs.
Nahz Taylor made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Alonso fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against East Bay on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 6-5.
Noah Renew got Alonso off to a strong start despite the final result, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Renew has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Ihonathan Perez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Llanes, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
Alonso's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Chamberlain, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chamberlain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Alonso struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chamberlain suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Alonso in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Storm have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
