This season hasn't been kind to the Poultney Blue Devils, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They lost to Granville at home by a decisive 64-48 margin on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Poultney came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 35th in Vermont, while Granville is ranked 425th in New York).
Liam Farrell was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds for Granville. The game was Farrell's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Jennings, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Poultney's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Granville, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poultney will be home for the holidays to greet Twin Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Twin Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Granville will finish 2023 at home by hosting Bolton Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bolton Central is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
