Wakeland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Maples out in front who rushed for 59 yards and one TD. Those 59 rushing yards gave Maples a new career-high. Austin Leigl got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
The Colony's record is now 1-1. As for Wakeland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
The Colony and Wakeland will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Cougars will face off against rival Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. Meanwhile, Wakeland is set to take on their familiar foe Lebanon Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
