Two dominant guards in Ava Pautz and Mia Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Notre Dame Prep Saints will be playing in front of their home fans against the Horizon Huskies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Notre Dame Prep put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against Cactus Shadows as Notre Dame Prep made off with a 71-45 victory. Winning may never get old, but Notre Dame Prep sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Notre Dame Prep can attribute much of their success to Pautz, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, and Ayla Keefe, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pautz posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Frankel, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Even though Horizon has not done well against Cactus Shadows recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Horizon strolled past Cactus Shadows with points to spare, taking the game 45-31. The win made it back-to-back wins for Horizon.
Notre Dame Prep's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Horizon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Everything went Notre Dame Prep's way against Horizon in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Notre Dame Prep made off with a 53-31 victory. Does Notre Dame Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Horizon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
