The Fairport Red Raiders had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Rush-Henrietta by a score of 56-49. That's another feather in the cap for Fairport, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Royal Comets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Graylin Strong, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Council, who scored 11 points.
Fairport's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Rush-Henrietta, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairport will take on Webster Schroeder at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rush-Henrietta, they will head out on the road to face off against Brighton at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
