Grant is 0-3 against Rapides since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Grant Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Rapides Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Grant is hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses.
Grant suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Neville, falling 63-28. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grant has scored all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rapides gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Harrisonburg 68-13 at home. The win was just what Rapides needed coming off of a 64-39 defeat in their prior matchup.
Rapides' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christopher Newton led the charge by scoring ten points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwon Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Grant has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Rapides, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
Grant suffered a grim 71-47 defeat to Rapides when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Grant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
