Gunderson is 2-8 against Evergreen Valley since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Friday.   Alanna Martinez Poklong made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  struck out 16 batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Martinez Poklong has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. Martinez Poklong was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Desirae Regalado was  incredible,  going 2-for-3 with four  RBI, a  stolen base,  and a  run. Another player making a difference was  Breanna Bartek, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, sadly, Evergreen Valley is still looking for their first win of the season after six  games. They fell victim to a  rough 28-4 defeat at the hands of Del Mar  back in March.
 Gunderson's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Evergreen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Evergreen Valley's pitching crew has a tough task ahead of them:  Gunderson has hit smart this season,  having  averaged  an OBP of .584. It's a different story for Evergreen Valley, though, as  they've  only  averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Gunderson's hitters?
 Gunderson took their  win against Evergreen Valley  when the teams last played  back in March by a conclusive  24-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gunderson since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
