Given Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while University Prep Value is ranked 647th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jahangir Tareen, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Tareen's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Jared Dijamco was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for University Prep Value, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
