The Paul VI Panthers are ranked highly in their home state, and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. John's Cadets. Paul VI fell just short of St. John's by a score of 50-47. Paul VI has not had much luck with St. John's recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
St. John's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyndal Walker, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Harper, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Paul VI's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for St. John's, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Paul VI will stay at home for another game and welcome St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. St. Mary's Ryken has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. St. John's is on the road again on Tuesday and plays The Academy of the Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully St. John's is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than The Academy of the Holy Cross in their respective states (St. John's is ranked fourth in District of Columbia, while The Academy of the Holy Cross is ranked 61st in Maryland).
