The Marquette Catholic Explorers will take on the Carrollton Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marquette Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Althoff Catholic 11-3.

Kenna Lievers made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Marquette Catholic got a big performance out of Olivia Corn, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Corn a new career-high. Lucy LaFiore was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Marquette Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Carrollton never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Brown County on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Hornets. The Hawks have beaten the Hornets the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.
Like Marquette Catholic, Carrollton also got a great game from a two-way player: Brookelyn Eilerman. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Eilerman was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hadley Lake was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kadyn Lake, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Marquette Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-8-1. As for Carrollton, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marquette Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Carrollton struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
