Baseball Recap: Mattawan Beats Norrix for Their Seventh Straight Win

Mattawan entered their tilt with Norrix on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Maxx Vanantwerp tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Troy Scarff was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Jominy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mattawan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Mattawan pushed their record up to 21-3-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Norrix, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-7.

Mattawan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair will be back at it again later today.
