Ridge & Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
De Soto was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Ridge & Valley. The Pirates vanquished Weston 40-6 earlier in the week.
De Soto made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,251 from 10,770. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 40-6 victory over the Silver Eagles last week.
North Crawford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Childs threw for 35 and one touchdown and Hank Schellhorn had 23 yards receiving. On the ground Childs chipped in 96 yards. Cody Herschberger helped North Crawford's passing attack out by catching two balls for 12 yards.
Tyler Olson made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Trojans beat Seneca. The 5-foot-11 junior pulled down one interception and recorded one fumble.
North Crawford's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Childs has thrown for 275 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Schellhorn has five catches for 110 yards. Jacob Baumeister leads the league in rushing with 278 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Indians take on Ev Wick's team. As it stands, Seneca is in sixth, while the Pirates are in second.
North Crawford led Ridge & Valley in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Steven Kramer's team. Childs in the win.
